The Legend Of Troy

This article was originally featured on the One Speed Media website:
Troy Williamson. Remember the name. Fighting out of Darlington, in the North-East, Troy Williamson became the British light-middleweight champion after last weekend, defeating Ted Cheeseman in what was a potential fight of the year. Securing an astonishing knockout in the 10th round, Williamson gained fans up and down the country for putting on a truly entertaining fight.
Born and raised in Darlington, Williamson has had to make it to the top of boxing the hard way through fighting 'small-hall' shows and events, slightly away from the main eyes of boxing, in order to showcase his talent and get his name out there. Being brought up in the same area myself, the opportunities for elite sport are almost non-existent in comparison to places such as London or Manchester so it is no surprise that many elite athletes move away in the search for success.

Being promoted by hall-of-famer Frank Warren, Williamson now has his heart set on becoming world champion after defeating Cheeseman in fashion with a devastating left hook. Warren has a track record of making boxing superstars such as Ricky Hatton, Naseem Hamed and Joe Calzaghe so Williamson is in some of the safest hands in boxing promotion.
Fans of Troy hope to see the 'Trojan' fighting again in early 2022, with no names being mentioned as of yet, with it only being relatively soon after the fight as I'm sure Williamson's bathing in the glory of becoming British champion. The question is, is the world stage next?
