UFC London: First Look
Wow. Last week, British MMA fans were broke the golden news that the UFC was returning to London in March. In what is sure to be a thrilling night of action, the card is full of exciting British talent.
Headlining the event is heavyweight clash Alexander Volkov vs Tom Aspinall. Tom Aspinall, who is from Manchester, has been on everybody's radar for a while. After fighting under Cage Warriors, Aspinall made his UFC debut in 2020 and has since gone on to have 4 successive victories. He now finds himself the number 10th ranked heavyweight on the planet, with fight fans excited to see what his future holds.
Another couple of exciting British fighters in action on March the 19th are Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann. Both, fighting out of Next Generation MMA over in Liverpool, have gained impressive followings after their performances. Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett scored an impressive round 1 KO in his UFC debut against Luigi Vendramini. His antics and likeable character, after the fight and out of the octagon, have warmed thousands to the 27 year old scouse lad. He faces Rodrigo Vargas at UFC London and is the heavy favourite, many even tout him to be the 'next Conor McGregor' due to his persona and characteristics.
Molly McCann faces Luana Carolina in a flyweight bout, many can not wait to see! Her passion in the octagon has allowed her to build a fanbase since her arrival to the UFC in 2018. The 31 year old now looks to improve her current UFC record of 4-3, against Brazilian fighter Luana Carolina.
The youngest fighter on the UFC roster, Muhammad Mokaev, is making his UFC debut against Cory Durden at UFC London. One of the hottest young prospects in the fight game, at only 21 years old, after a 30 fight win streak Muhammad Mokaev signed to the UFC in November 2021.
After becoming two-time IMMA World and European Champion, European BJJ Champ, 6x British Wrestling Champion and being extremely successful throughout his time representing Team GB, he gained worldwide recognition. Dana White was quick to move and soon established a good relationship with the young Briton. The world will soon see what Mokaev has to offer...
